How to Perfect Your Wedding Day Smile

21 Apr 2022

So, your partner finally put a ring on it! After the Instagram shots of the engagement ring have slid to the bottom of the news feed and the flurry of people congratulating you has petered out, it’s time to begin planning in earnest for what many regards as the biggest day of their lives.

Getting married is a joyous occasion, but it does come with its fair share of tribulations. Getting the right venue at the best price, dealing with the family-related drama that always seems to happen around these occasions, picking the perfect dress or suit, and worrying about whether the flaws in your smile will stand out a mile on your expensive wedding photos.

Everybody wants to look their best on their wedding day. You’ll invest in beautiful clothes, stunning shoes, the perfect hairstyle, and gorgeous makeup…but what about your teeth?

Here’s how to make sure your smile shines through on your wedding day.

Don’t Make It an Afterthought

Unless you’re running off to Vegas tomorrow to get hitched by an Elvis impersonator, you’ve probably given yourself several months until the big day. The first priority is obviously going to be booking your venue; after all, this is often the detail that determines the actual date of the wedding.

Once you know when your big day is going to happen, pop in and see us. Not only will we want to congratulate you, but we can also help plan any dental treatments you’ll need well in advance.

In this consultation, we’ll talk about what you’d like to fix. You may have:

  • Crooked, overcrowded, or gappy teeth
  • Stained or discoloured teeth
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth

Treatment lengths vary depending on what you’d like us to address; some are short and sweet, while others, such as teeth straightening, may take several months. The earlier we can set to work, the better!

Of course, it’s not just you that we’d like to see; it’s your partner too. Bring them along and we’ll make sure you both look a million dollars.

Your Wedding Day Smile Consultation

We use the very latest technology to help you visualise your smile. The iTero 3D scanner lets you see into the future and see what your teeth will look like once you’ve been treated by us. Sometimes the best way to understand the benefits of treatment is to see exactly how your teeth could look.

We’ll give you options. These might include treatments such as:

  • Invisalign – The popular revolutionary clear aligner system is perfect for straightening your teeth
  • Enlighten – For a brighter smile, we offer at-home teeth whitening from Enlighten.
  • Composite bonding – Cracks, chips, and misshapen teeth can all be fixed with this simple and highly effective treatment.

Once you’ve made the decision about what you’d like, we’ll create a bespoke wedding smiles treatment plan that will get you looking picture-perfect.

Invisalign Teeth Straightening

For misaligned, crowded, and gappy smiles, we offer Invisalign. Treatment lengths vary, but in as little as 9-15 months, you could have a new, beautiful, straight smile.

Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners that gently apply pressure to your teeth, moving them into a better position. Throughout your treatment, we’ll give you a new aligner every few weeks. Each custom-made aligner tray is perfectly designed to take your teeth that bit closer to their desired goal.

The beauty of Invisalign is that it’s invisible. You can wear your aligner all the time, and nobody will notice it’s there!

But unlike braces, you can take it out for a short period of time each day. This makes eating and brushing your teeth so much easier than if you were to wear a fixed orthodontic appliance.

Enlighten Teeth Whitening

When you smile at your partner as you’re saying your vows, you’ll want to sparkle like never before. With Enlighten at-home teeth whitening, you’ll have a brighter smile you can feel great about.

Don’t let dull, discoloured, and stained teeth darken the brightest day of your life. Enlighten uses custom-made trays filled with whitening gel. Each night for two weeks, you’ll wear the trays and let the treatment work its magic.

Over the course of the whitening process, your teeth will become brighter and whiter, eventually reaching a B1 shade. This is the most natural shade of white possible. As it brightens your smile, Enlighten also cuts through stains.

Once your two-week treatment is over, we’ll get you back into the clinic where we’ll finish the process in one final 45-minute session.

Composite Bonding

For all of those other dental imperfections, there’s composite bonding. This minimally invasive treatment is quick and easy, and really is the icing on the cake when it comes to perfecting the detail in your smile.

Composite bonding is great for improving the size and shape of small or even teeth as well as covering cracks and chips.

The pain-free process takes minutes and there’s not a drill in sight. We’ll apply a composite resin to the areas of your tooth we’re working on improving. Then, we’ll craft the resin with finesse until it makes your tooth look immaculate.

Once we’re happy with the look of your tooth, we’ll harden the resin. This is done using a special lamp. Once it’s set, your tooth will be fully restored. In all, treating a single tooth takes a few short minutes.

Budgeting for Your Treatment

We know that you’re gearing up for one of the most important and most expensive days of your life. The exact cost of your treatment will depend on whether you’re getting treatments on both your top and bottom teeth. To help you budget, talk to us about the different finance options available.
