Why Is Invisalign So Loved By Patients and Dentists? The Top 10 Reasons

We love Invisalign. But it’s not just the dental team at Love Teeth that believes the transparent aligner system is awesome, we know that lots of our patients love it too. We’ve seen excellent results and so many beaming smiles.

Invisalign straightens teeth. It’s used by millions of people worldwide and is a non-invasive treatment that changes lives.

But why do so many people choose Invisalign over traditional braces?

Here are ten reasons why Invisalign is loved by both patients and dentists alike.

1. It’s Clear

First off, lots of Invisalign patients choose this treatment because the aligners are perfectly clear. When they’re in your mouth, they’re virtually impossible to spot.

Traditional braces aren’t so subtle. Many patients prefer Invisalign because there are no wires or brackets attached to your smile. This means you can get on with life, without worrying about whether people are looking at your aligner – because they’re not!

2. It’s Comfortable

When you’re wearing your aligner all day, day in and day out, it needs to be comfortable. Because traditional braces have brackets that stick out from your teeth, they can rub or scratch against the inside of your mouth.

Invisalign aligners are made of smooth, safe plastic.

But the material Invisalign aligners are made from isn’t just smooth, it’s lightweight. That means that once you’re used to wearing your aligner, you’ll barely even notice it’s there. In fact, Invisalign is so comfortable that you’ll have no problems sleeping in them. You can straighten your teeth while you sleep.

3. It’s flexible

Invisalign doesn’t just straighten misaligned teeth, it can help with a whole host of other problems. The aligners can close the gaps between your teeth and spread out an overcrowded smile.

Not only this, but Invisalign even works on complex bite issues. When your upper teeth don’t meet your lower teeth, it can cause jaw problems. These issues often go on to cause pain in your shoulders, neck, and head.

The great news is that Invisalign can fix them all.

4. There Are No Painful Adjustments

If you wear braces, you need to have your wires tightened occasionally. This is because teeth straightening involves physically moving your teeth into a new position.

Invisalign follows the same principle but does it without needing a dental appointment or an uncomfortable adjustment.

Instead, you’ll be given a replacement aligner every couple of weeks. Each new aligner is ever-so-slightly different from the last one and is carefully designed to apply a gentle force in the exact areas to create the planned tooth movement.

5. Your Treatment Is Planned Meticulously

Invisalign treatment doesn’t leave anything to chance. The entire process is carefully mapped out by some very clever software so that we can create a perfect smile together.

When you come in for your first consultation, we’ll take some digital scans of your teeth. This information goes straight into the software, and the planning begins.

Because everything is planned in advance, you’ll get to see digital impressions of your future smile before you have the treatment.

6. You Can Take Your Aligner Out to Eat

Because your aligner is removable, it couldn’t be easier to take it out while eating or drinking.

It’s suggested that you aim to wear your aligner as much as possible. Ideally, you should wear it for around 22 hours a day; however, you can take it out to clean it and at mealtimes.

Whenever you do take your aligner out to eat, make sure you keep it somewhere safe. It’s best to keep a container handy so that you don’t need to leave it on the table, wrap it in tissue, or put it in your pocket, as none of these options is good for you or the aligner.

7. Your Aligner Is Easy to Clean

Keeping your aligner clean is essential. Because your Invisalign aligner is pressed against your teeth for most of the day and night, it can trap in food debris and bacteria, putting you at an increased risk of developing tooth decay.

Fortunately, it couldn’t be easier to clean your aligner. All you have to do is take it out, rinse it under running water and gently brush it with a soft toothbrush and some unscented liquid soap before rinsing again.

It’s recommended that you clean your aligner whenever you brush your teeth. That way, you’ll put a fresh aligner onto your recently cleaned teeth.

8. Invisalign Is Just As Good As Braces

Traditional braces have been around for many years and are a very effective way to straighten your teeth. But does Invisalign match up to braces in terms of results? Does the force from the metal wires of a traditional brace improve the treatment?

The answer is that Invisalign can do everything braces can. In fact, for some alignment issues, Invisalign is actually regarded as being better.

9. Your Aligners Are Completely Bespoke

Every new aligner that you are given is specially designed and made for your mouth. Your entire Invisalign treatment is tailored around the exact position of your teeth. That means that you can’t pick up someone else’s aligner and pop it in, and nobody should do the same with yours.

10. You Can See the Results Quickly

Everyone’s treatment is unique, and the length of time you’ll need to wear your aligners will depend on the position of your teeth at the start. That said, most people will start to see changes in how their smile looks after a short period.

Some people notice results after just a few weeks. Spotting the improvements helps make the treatment feel worthwhile. You could even consider keeping a photo journal to chart your progress.
